Poem A Day, Poetry

Day One, Poem Number One: “Writers, Poets, and Lovers”

Writers
will write many
terrible
stories until
they write a
tantalizing tale,
something to be proud of.

Poets
will author many
awful
poems until
they author a
vibrant verse,
something to be lauded.

Lovers ask,
is this the same with
love?
Or does practice make
imperfect?

The Prophet says
pain
carves out
spaces to be filled with
joy,
but what if only
scar tissue
occupies that space instead?
